This last weekend my friend Candace and I went camping at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. This is a beautiful place about an hour and a half from El Dorado Springs, complete with huge fields of daisies, caves, and incredible rock formations. I was a little nervous about two girls camping all alone in the middle of no where, but it ended up being completely worth it for all the fun we had.
We parked at the base of a 7 mile loop trail and hiked about a mile up before it got too dark to continue on. Candace set about getting out our tent while I searched -- unsuccessfully, I might add -- for a level spot to pitch our tent. We ended up sleeping...er, I mean, laying down...on a nice hill which had us slipping to the bottom of the tent all night.
Poor Candace is pretty afraid of bugs and spiders and snakes. And coyotes. I had some fun with this. In fact, one snake we found was just the cutest little thing, so I tried to catch it. Hmm. Ok, stupid. It was snapping at me like crazy and Candace just about went balistic!
On Saturday, we hiked about 11 miles of trails. It was a beautiful day. I was reminded all over again of how incredibly creative my God is. Only He could have painted the sunset we saw. Only God could have formed that kind of beauty.
In other news, my little sister and mom get back tomorrow from their visit to Bolivia. It's a good thing, because I miss them.
