  • Right leg out, head up...and JUMP!

     I went skydiving on Saturday.

It may have been the biggest rush I have ever felt.

Our plane climbed to 10,000 ft. before we jumped out. When they first opened the door of the plane, I could feel my heart just about to beat out of my chest. Matt jumped first...and for just a split second I got a bit nervous because I realized I had just reached the point of no returnI had no choice but to fling myself out of that plane. But I didn't really have time to worry - I was freefalling just a few seconds later. I nosedived for a couple seconds and finally turned belly down. We freefell for about a mile before opening the shoot. I can't even describe what it's like to just hurl yourself out of a plane and crash at 120 mph (or so) down toward Earth. As the land gets closer and closer and you gain more and more speed...the more you realize that it's addictive. Yep, I'm ready to do it again.

    Thanks, Matt!

  • Pure Joy

This week I have been helping with VBS, and I am so exhausted! The theme was TrueRassic Park, so we basically looked at the Creation/Evolution debate at a kid-level, along with the flood, what happened to all the dinosaurs, and why Jesus had to die. My part was the mad scientist/inventor in the lab. It was a blast - I love talking about the subject of creation! I got to talk about how God was the greatest inventor of all time, and about how his greatest invention was us!

There is no end to how much I love kids. Nothing brings me more joy than to see a child begin to understand the immensity of God's love for them. I pray I always get to work with children.

  • This last weekend my friend Candace and I went camping at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. This is a beautiful place about an hour and a half from El Dorado Springs, complete with huge fields of daisies, caves, and incredible rock formations. I was a little nervous about two girls camping all alone in the middle of no where, but it ended up being completely worth it for all the fun we had.

We parked at the base of a 7 mile loop trail and hiked about a mile up before it got too dark to continue on. Candace set about getting out our tent while I searched -- unsuccessfully, I might add -- for a level spot to pitch our tent. We ended up sleeping...er, I mean, laying down...on a nice hill which had us slipping to the bottom of the tent all night.

Poor Candace is pretty afraid of bugs and spiders and snakes. And coyotes. I had some fun with this. In fact, one snake we found was just the cutest little thing, so I tried to catch it. Hmm. Ok, stupid. It was snapping at me like crazy and Candace just about went balistic!

On Saturday, we hiked about 11 miles of trails. It was a beautiful day. I was reminded all over again of how incredibly creative my God is. Only He could have painted the sunset we saw. Only God could have formed that kind of beauty.

In other news, my little sister and mom get back tomorrow from their visit to Bolivia. It's a good thing, because I miss them.
